What a kanwariya needs on the road
The Maha Shivratri Kanwad Yatra is walked. A devotee carries Ganga water for days, often through the night, often barefoot. On a journey like that, three things matter most — somewhere to sit and sleep, hot food, and the assurance that someone on the road is your own.
The Shree Ajay Seva camp exists for exactly those three needs.
1
Rest camp
- Tents are set up with beds and blankets.
- A kanwariya can sleep for a few hours and carry on with the yatra.
2
Food and prasad
- Food is cooked at the camp itself.
- Prasad is distributed.
- Nothing is charged, from anyone.
3
Lit, secure and managed all night
- The whole camp stays lit through the night — the yatra keeps moving in the dark.
- Volunteers are on duty round the clock for security and management.
- Mobile charging stations are provided.
4
Free medical care
- Free health check-ups and medicines.
- The 2024 medical camp in village Mohra screened 163 people — the newspapers covered it.
5
Bhajan evening and jhanki
- Bhajan-kirtan on the stage.
- A deity jhanki is decorated for darshan.
- Full sound and light arrangements.
6
Welcome and kanwad arrangements
- Every kanwariya is welcomed at the decorated gate.
- A separate place is set up to keep the decorated kanwads safe.
